What GOOD will we do together?
-
When you drop off your donated goods, they are immediately sorted, processed, and priced by our team members. These team members you meet may be overcoming barriers themselves. In 2022 alone, we were able to employ over 500 Alabamians internally thanks to the generosity of our donors and shoppers.
Our full-time and part-time positions are competitively paid roles that, with the support of Goodwill mission services, enable those with barriers to work towards a sustainable career. In most cases, Alabama Goodwill is a first stop, or stepping stone to life changing learning and personal growth.
-
After our team members sort, process and price your donated goods for sale in our thrift stores, the revenue your goods generate goes on to directly fund services in north and central Alabama communities. On average, it costs Alabama Goodwill an estimated $556 per individual to provide weeks of coaching, learning, and experiences that lead to sustainable, gainful employment. Because of you, 100% of our services are made completely free of charge to participants.
-
When you donate, shop or support Alabama Goodwill financially, you help us to build a more equitable workforce by empowering and employing individuals with barriers to employment.
We believe every person deserves the opportunity to work. “Barriers to employment” is widely defined; it may be a physical or developmental disability, an individual experiencing homelessness, illiteracy, single parent with no childcare, welfare recipient, criminal record, among others. No matter the barrier, Goodwill helps break those barriers and provides people the opportunity to become self-sufficient.
While we track and measure significant job placement, coaching sessions and program statistics, what we cannot measure is perhaps the most valuable difference you make - generational change and life-altering opportunity.
Together, we help those we serve rise above poverty.
-
Each year, Alabama Goodwill diverts over 10 million pounds of donated goods from local landfills and circulate them back into the community. Alabama Goodwill utilizes donations in a way that creates better futures for our students, communities and our environment.
By donating to Alabama Goodwill, you are extending the life of household items and keeping them out of landfills.
