Where Your Things Start New Lives

Jose faced unemployment after suffering an injury that limited his mobility and made it difficult to perform In his job operating a forklift. Goodwill was able to give him a second chance at employment. His job security and the support he has received from the Goodwill team has helped him regain confidence, and Jose credits the Goodwill team in helping him constantly strive for self-improvement. He is now 8 years sober and able to provide for his family.

During the pandemic, Shakira struggled with unemployment while also balancing school and caring for her daughter as a single mother. With the help of a Goodwill career specialist, she earned a scholarship and enrolled with a Technical College to obtain her associates degree in hospitality and tourism management. Sharika now has a new career in hospitality working for a local Fairfield Inn & Suites.

Alberto has been a Goodwill associate for nearly 15 years within the AbilityOne program. His kindness, hard work and attention to detail have been recognized and commended by his team and have helped create a strong relationship leadership at Goodwill. In 2021, Alberto received an award for his accomplishments and work ethic from a local organization dedicated to honoring those with disabilities in the workforce.
