Alabama Goodwill accepts many gently used and new items that can be reused, resold, or repurposed to support our mission. Accepted items include:

Help Us Keep Donations Safe and Usable
Items in need of repair, water-soaked or stained items, or items covered in pet hair cannot be accepted.
Examples: Pet beds, pet furniture, cat trees, electronics that do not work, and furniture with excessive pet dander.
Flammable items, weapons, and related hazardous items cannot be accepted.
Examples: Ammunition, weapons, crossbows, firearms, fireworks, flares, pesticides, flammable items, gas containers, gas-powered equipment, and gasoline.
Chemical products, household hazardous products, and similar materials cannot be accepted.
Examples: Car batteries, tires, brake fluid, oil, chemical products, gas containers, gasoline, propane cylinders, detergents, glues, antifreeze, pet food, pet chemicals, air freshener, aerosols, oven cleaner, hydrogen peroxide, disinfectants, fertilizer, weed killer, insecticides, furniture polish, latex spray, oil paint, ammonia, chlorine bleach, lye, bleach-based cleaners, nail polish remover, paint thinner, petroleum distillates, wood stains or finishes, kerosene, propane, solvents, motor oil, batteries, vinegar, pool acid, metal polish, drain cleaner, hydrochloric acid, battery acid, and toilet bowl cleaner.
Building materials and renovation items cannot be accepted.
Examples: Air conditioners, carpeting, lumber, paint, plate glass, wooden ladders, windows and doors of any kind, sliding glass doors, gas-powered tools, oil, toilets, and sinks.
Certain oversized items, large appliances, and electronics cannot be accepted.
Examples: Pianos, organs, ping pong tables, TVs manufactured before 2010, console stereos, large copiers, refrigerators, stoves, washers, and dryers.
Mattresses, box springs, and certain bed types cannot be accepted.
Examples: Hospital beds, electric beds, waterbeds, box springs, mattresses, mechanical beds, and baby beds.
Certain baby items cannot be accepted for safety reasons.
Examples: High chairs, infant carriers, car seats, infant sleepers, baby beds, and baby walkers.
Some additional items cannot be accepted due to safety, handling, or resale concerns.
Examples: Encyclopedia sets, mirrors without frames, metal desks, animals, live plants, syringes, medicine, plate glass, Reader’s Digest books, curtain rods, drapery rods, and any recalled items that do not meet U.S. CPSC standards.
Due to limited space, Attended Donation Centers may not have the capacity to accept large and heavy donations such as sofas, kitchen tables, bed frames, etc.
These items will need to be redirected to a Goodwill store to donate or by scheduled pickup via ReSupply.
