Former Macy’s Executive Joins Alabama Goodwill

A Fortune 500 retail veteran has joined the leadership team at Alabama Goodwill Industries. Doug Prescott, former Vice President of Operations and Senior Director of Merchandise Strategy for Macy's Inc. has been tapped as Vice President of Operations here at Alabama Goodwill!

“After half a dozen moves throughout the southeast over the past 11 years, my wife Jessica and I longed to return home to Birmingham to be close to family, our church family and friends. It was our desire to re-establish roots in the community and provide a constant place for our children to call home,” Prescott said.

Doug will be tasked with leading our thrift store and donation center operations.

“After 22 years of leadership in for-profit retail, I sought the opportunity to align my purpose to my profession. Alabama Goodwill was the perfect pairing to pursue my passion for helping others with my love of retailing,” Prescott added.

With direction from the volunteer Board of Directors, he will help oversee operation expansion efforts that will support our key impact goals. These goals include serving 20,000 Alabamians through job readiness programs in 2022 and creating 300 new jobs in Alabama by 2024.
