Alabama Goodwill Opens Second Birmingham Store

Alabama Goodwill Industries (AGI) has opened a second store in the Birmingham-Metro area. The new retail store located at 5287 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242 is in Brook Highland Plaza just off Highway 280. The new site also features a convenient donation drive thru.

“This is a milestone moment for our mission, and we’re grateful for the community support that got us here,” said President and CEO David Wells.

For decades, the organization’s building off Green Springs Highway has been the sole Goodwill store in the metro area.

“We are eager to meet the needs of our neighbors and help more individuals than ever overcome their barriers to employment. In addition to expanded programs and services, we are aiming to create 500 new jobs in the next few years. This store’s opening is a crucial step in making that goal a reality,” Wells added.

The opening of the new location has created 27 jobs for Alabamians overcoming various challenges. Directly supported by the revenue generated from the sales of donated goods, these jobs help community members enter or re-enter the workforce and find self-sufficiency through the power of work. With an array of wraparound services, AGI’s mission is to equip its team members to build careers and life change through the power of work.

The organization is hosting a four-day Grand Opening celebration beginning January 6th, and invites the public to join the fun. Thursday’s opening will feature a ribbon cutting at 9:00 AM, followed by discounts and giveaways for donors and shoppers.
