Alabama Goodwill Contracting Services Board

Alabama Goodwill has provided dependable and timely contract services to various government facilities across the state for many years.

In 2023, the Alabama Goodwill Contracting Services (AGCS) Board was developed to further expand these employment opportunities with the help of AbilityOne.

The AbilityOne program is the largest employment source for people with significant disabilities or who have visual impairments.

The program develops and delivers employment opportunities that provide individual choice, equitable wages and benefits, career advancement, and personal satisfaction for more than 45,000 people living with those conditions. These individuals are employed by a network of more than 600 nonprofit agencies that provide a wide array of quality products and services at a fair price to federal customers.

Since then, the board has been awarded six federal contracts under the AbilityOne program These contracts provide employment opportunities for janitorial, warehouse, and food service positions at the following organizations:

  • General Service Administration

  • Social Security Administration

  • Alabama Air National Guard

Meet Brooke

Brooke Adams is the Chairperson for Alabama Goodwill Contracting Services (AGCS) Board of Directors.

Why did you join the board?

“I joined the board because I wanted to make a meaningful impact on the Alabama Goodwill organization and the community we serve. My experience in accounting, governmental contracts, and grants can help us achieve our goals and fulfill our mission.”

What do you look forward to in 2024 for AGCS?

“I look forward to increasing our footprint and expanding our contracting services in Alabama. I look forward to expanding our employment to more individuals with disabilities.”

“I have thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Alabama Goodwill and how each donation creates a financial impact and expands jobs to a more equitable and inclusive workforce in Alabama.”

Alabama Goodwill is committed to upholding a 75 percent ratio of contract employees with severe disabilities or visual impairments, as part of the AbilityOne program. We are dedicated to meeting or exceeding these requirements while ensuring the highest levels of quality standards.

Currently Alabama Goodwill is employing 19 team members with disabilities through these contracts. And that's just the beginning, the AGCS team is on a mission to create more job openings and training options in 2024.
