Function:

Under the direction of the store manager, the Donor Door Greeter processes and sorts all donations.

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Greet and assist donors/customers.
  • Receive incoming donations.
  • Issue donation receipts.
  • Sort donations as they arrive into proper carts or bins and make proper determination as to the quality of donations; sort and box identified salvage items.
  • Keep processing area clean and safe.
  • Maintain well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Store Management.

Function:

Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Custodian performs the general upkeep of store location.

Essential Functions:

1. Ability to communicate with customers and coworkers.

2. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

3. Ability to turn from side to side and be able to bend, stoop, and reach.

4. Ability to stand and move for long periods of time.

5. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

6. Comply with all safety rules, standards, and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the interior and exterior of the facility in compliance with our image and safety standards.
  • Cleans interior offices, classrooms, break areas, and lobby.
  • Dusts, vacuum, empties trash, cleans windows and tables.
  • Cleans and stocks restrooms.
  • Performs custodial work utilizing sound safety practices (i.e. lifting, use of equipment, floor signs, etc.) and reports accidents to team leader.
  • Transports trash to compactor.
  • Inspects exterior of premises, keep sidewalks swept and blown of debris, grounds and parking lot clear.
  • Monitors vendor services, landscape maintenance, window service, pest control, and property sweep.
  • Maintains the custodial checklist.
  • Inventories custodial supplies and equipment. Notifies the TLC when needed to reorder.
  • Reports damaged or non-working equipment to team leader in a timely manner.

3. Non CDL Truck Driver-Birmingham, AL

Function:

Under the supervision of the V.P. of Operations, the Truck Driver is responsible for operating large delivery vehicles within the areas served by Alabama Goodwill Industries to deliver and or collect goods, as directed.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform maintenance check on vehicle prior to leaving yard
  • Report all defects to supervisor
  • Follow directives supervisor
  • Complete all pick-ups and deliveries, as directed
  • Handle, load, unload and secure goods in manner which protects goods, donors and employees; Assist store personnel with placement of store shipment, and store returns.
  • Present friendly, cooperative attitude to donors and general public at all times; Be well groomed and polite at all times
  • Work cooperatively with truck helper
  • Adhere to all driving rules and regulations; Report motor vehicle violations (on/off duty) within 24 hours
  • Report all property damage immediately and complete written accident reports
  • Return truck, all equipment and donated goods to AGI plant by the end of each shift
  • Follow all safety procedures; Use appropriate safety and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Report injuries, safety concerns and violations immediately
  • Adhere to all AGI policies, procedures and regulations
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality record

Function:

Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Store Team Member assists with the day-to-day operations, production, and other needed performance to meet or exceed budget while in compliance with company standards, policies and procedures. The position involves standing, walking, bending, and stretching, as well as lifting and moving donations.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to lift and carry objects. Ability to use repetitive hand movement when buttoning, sorting, hanging, and zipping garments. Ability to engage in prolonged standing, walking and frequent bending, stooping and stretching.

5.  Maintenance Technician-Birmingham, Gadsden, Huntsville, AL

Function:

Under the direction of the VP of Operations, the Maintenance Technician performs preventative and routine maintenance at stores within AGI territory.

Major responsibilities:

  • Performs jobs involved with plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, landscaping and wiring for phones and data.
  • Installs and repairs light fixtures and outlets.
  • Calculates dimensions and material amounts needed for jobs to be performed.
  • Maintains appropriate records on jobs performed.
  • Maintains high standards of safety and good housekeeping.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Experience required:

Experience in the maintenance trades, trade knowledge in processing, ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Forklift certification is a plus. This position requires a valid Alabama driver’s license and a good driving record. Facilities Maintenance: 1 year (Required).

Travel: 75% within AGI territory.

Aptitudes/skills/temperament:

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiar with and easily able to read and interpret diagrams, drawings and manuals of craft trades.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
