High Impact Donations

Spring is officially here! With the new season upon us, we hope you’ll consider donating to support our mission as you begin spring cleaning. If you’ve ever wondered what makes the most impact, here’s a quick guide to the items that help your community the most:

  • Clothes: All around, your clothing donations make the greatest impact on our mission and make a significant impact on our planet!
Did you know? Clothing donations are the number one revenue generating item in our stores and outlet. In addition to providing jobs and skills trainings through our mission services, your gently used or new clothes go on to have a second life in our stores, outlet, or salvage sales. Together, we are able to divert your used clothes from landfills and promote sustainable fashion.

  • Home decor, furniture, and other wares: Furniture and other wares like toys, art, and collectibles are all in a highly impactful category of goods. Whether your table lives on to be refinished, or your child’s skates live on to bring joy to someone else, wares make a big impact on our mission and the revenue we need to sustain our community services.

  • Shoes: Yes, shoes! Before you throw out old shoes thinking “no one will wear these,” think again! These items are the third most impactful item in generating revenue to provide digital literacy skills, job trainings, and more!

While this list only features the most impactful donations, we welcome so much more than just these items! You can see a full list of what we accept by clicking here.

Your donations provide jobs, training, and much more to Alabamians who may face barriers to employment.

March 27th kicks off National Cleaning Week! When you donate at any of our Alabama Goodwill locations between March 27th and April 2nd, you’ll receive a coupon for 20% off your entire purchase for future use in our stores!
